Ensuring your car’s air conditioning system is fully functioning is key for ensuring a comfortable and healthy cabin environment especially in warmer environments. Without a fully functioning air con, your car can become uncomfortably warm and stuffy. A working air conditioner keeps you and your passengers cool and comfortable during your travels. At Owd Barn Service Station we are well versed in resolving air conditioning faults and re-gassing, and we can examine your vehicle’s system to ensure it’s operating correctly.
Your vehicle manufacturer recommends recharging your air conditioning system every 2 years. Because this system isn’t checked as part of the MOT test or a scheduled service, it’s important to include recharging in your car’s routine maintenance schedule.
Upon arrival, our technicians will confirm the correct type of air conditioning gas for your car. If you’ve booked the wrong type, we’ll advise you in advance about any price difference for the correct gas. We’ll also refund any difference if your car requires the older R134a gas, but you booked online for R1234yf.
Over time, bacteria, mould, and even fungi can accumulate in the evaporator of your car’s air conditioning system. This can lead to unpleasant odours and, in some cases, illness or respiratory problems if inhaled by passengers.
Our A/C Debug and Cleaning process utilises a special anti-bacterial solution to eliminate harmful bacteria and mould from your vehicle’s air conditioning system and evaporator. This additional treatment costs £20 and can be included as part of the standard air conditioning service.

Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. It reduces friction, lessens wear, provides lubrication, forms a seal between the pistons, rings and cylinder walls while helping to cool engine parts. Without the cleaning action of new oil, carbon and varnish buildup would be toxic to the engine. And engine oil even dampens the shock and noise of moving parts.
